Having lived in a mix of new housing in Castle Bromwich Birmingham. New private houses, built side by side with Council or Housing Associations
was a failure.

But to make this work it is essential to have at least a primary school in the new 2500 dwelling area. This helps to create community, which Warwick Gates does not currently have.

Our land is now a precious commodity and that we should seek to use it sparingly and optimise its use. I would prefer to see exactly what the policies are, rather than being told that the Core Strategy must include some!

The definition of the mix does not include sustainability issues, the impact of the urban heat island, sustainable water management, building for life considerations. It just seems to be a brochure for developers to build the same styles as on Warwick Gates and Chase Meadow - which are no longer appropriate. Considering the number of strategies that are missing from this consultation, the council is hardly capable of deciding the mix of housing with so much missing information and lack of best practice advice.

It is appropriate to secure a specific mix of housing in order to more directly meet the needs identified in local housing markets and through housing need surveys

For a mix of housing types it is not necessary to build a large development. The planners just need to ensure tht there is a mix across the available development sites, which should be evenly distributed across the county.

Support the need for a range of housing including family homes with a garden and starter houses for couples and supported accommodation for the elderly or those with accessibility needs.

Broadly support, but large housing estates are not always the pleasantest places to live, or the easiest to develop any community spirit - not good for the elderly you want to put there.

As previously stated the plans show no desire to use all land currently available without making further in roads into green belt land

We already have too many deprived areas; these should be rejuvenated in situ. There is already a good mixture of housing types (prices) in the area so the mix is a false argument. People should be allowed to live where they like without councils trying to "social engineer" their own problems away. Aspiration is a major motivator in community, wealth and responsibility development if people want to live with their peers let them.

I support the need for a policy which provides a mix of housing types but do not believe that large housing sites are the only way of achieving this objective.
