Part greenfield, part brown - a very large amount of land requiring full services input to the development - would schools be needed etc.

This seems to be the more useful and desirable area for development. It accords with the PPS and is ripe for sustainable use. The airport is unnecessary for Birmingham and East Midlands readily accessible. The site needs to be near to employment and services and some development would take up the majority of the housing requirement.

Objects to development of the land around Baginton airport but considers that development of the large brown field site south of the airport would be acceptable.

It is noted that for Land at Baginton, the representations state that the master planning would allow for flexible aviation use and enhanced aviation facilities at Coventry airport as well as raising the scale and profile of the commercial / employment areas.
Coventry airport does operate as a business and leisure airport for the Coventry and Warwickshire sub-region, with the adjacent commercial areas providing an employment resource for the wider area.
The Agency would ask for the economic importance of these facilities to be taken into account if the wider site is chosen for future housing development.

Baginton does not wish to be a 'growth' village.
Substantial areas are either unsuitable or unavailable for development:
- North of Baginton is flood plain
- Coventry Golf Course is a mature development
- Baginton Castle and medieval village are of interest to English Heritage
- The site of the Old Baginton Hall is a potential development for a Brethren school
- The ancient fish ponds have been restored
- The Severn Trent lagoons are in use
- Church Road is a 'conservation area'
To propose development without altering the 'character of the village' is not possible. We are a small, rural village in Warwickshire and we want to remain that way.

BTPC comment that the entire site is not appropriate for full development. However, the Joint Greenbelt Review identifies the area as one of low landscape value, owing to the airport, business parks and previous development. It appears sensible to use this site to take pressure away from King's Hill with the provision of 1400 homes and 30ha of employment land. Development of this site would not be expected until the third phase (2021-26). Owing to its role in providing Coventry overflow, it would have to be demonstrated that no land at Coventry was available prior to development.

There could be deposits of sand and gravel within this site.
Part of the area identified under Site 6 has been submitted as a potential sand and gravel site for possible allocation in the Minerals Core Strategy. The site submission (Site 20 - Land South of Baginton) can be viewed on pages 142 - 144 of the Minerals Core Strategy Revised Spatial Options consultation document.

Green Belt and potential flood zone issues. Dunsmore Parklands. Development on this scale would destroy the identity of the village of Baginton. The village would merge with Finham, the urban edge of Coventry. The development area appears to take in the Conservation Area, Lunt Roman Fort, the golf course, garden nurseries, sewage works and landfill?

This proposed site would impact significantly on the local and strategic highway network, with limited scope for suitable access provision or improvement. Limited existing bus routes in the area.
Existing barriers means pedestrian/cycle permeability will be challenging.
the level of necessary mitigation would be considerable. A new public transport network would need to be established.

I am concerned about the size of these developments because of problems such as under pressure on the infrastructure, the destruction of green field sites and villages losing their identities. I also think more should be done to incorporate brown-field before building on green fields.
I do not support the development of ALL the land around Baginton Airport but would support the development of the large brown field site south of the airport
