The CWLEP supports the overall vision .However we would like to see greater recognition of the importance and role of canalside areas throughout the District in contributing to a prosperous local economy .The Vision should include a commitment to maintain and enhance existing employment areas which provide an important resource in the local economy .

I recall that somewhere in the document is mentioned the use of the canal as a communications corridor.
No mention is made of the fact that some 20 years ago a telecoms cable was in fact laid in the canal path as part of a link between London and Birmingham. The junction chambers are still visible in places.
