Cycling, off-road cycling, walking and running in S Warks countryside should be actively encouraged in all circumstances. This requires the rural areas to be protected and for access to be enhanced in a very meaningful way.

Agree in principle but more should be done for "local centres" to have indoor as well as outdoor. All the ideas are excellent but who is funding all this development?

A full audit of outdoor sports and leisure facilities should be undertaken so that resources can be directed to those areas where there is an under provision. Wellesbourne and Walton Parish is already identified by SDC in its Core Strategy to have a deficit and nothing has yet been done to remedy this.

I don't believe it will be improved, build new communities around leisure facilities, change peoples perception of healthy living. The proposals are disconnected from the new houses particularly in Alcester.

The policy on outdoor sports & leisure (DPD 44) doesn't recognise that fields are
becoming increasingly unplayable due to waterlogging - there needs to be a more serious
adaptation plan than is mentioned here.

as drafted the policy is appallingly weak. Wording lacks clarity.
“adequate alternative provision is available to meet the needs of the area” -Define adequate.
“secured on or off site that are equally accessible to the community” - Define equally accessible. How? By public transport? How far away?
"Where strategic residential development is proposed the provision of new facilities will be sought." This will enable a developer to offer new facilities at a cost or accessibility out of reach to the users of the existing facilities

There needs to be more retention of these sports sites. Once developers have decided it is not needed and built on it there is no going back.
