Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Draft Policy Direction 1 addresses housing needs for the new SWLP, referencing the 2022 Coventry & Warwickshire HEDNA and the Standard Method as outlined by the NPPF. However, it lacks a firm commitment to the required housing level. The SWLP should adhere to the Standard Method for determining housing need to ensure compliance with national policy and soundness. It is therefore recommend to plan for at least 2,188 dwellings per annum, with any deviations needing robust justification to avoid the plan being deemed unsound at examination.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

We support the continued allocation of Long Marston Airfield (LMA) within the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) Part 1, as it is under our control and already designated for 3,500 homes, with a track record of successful development. Further development is feasible despite temporary delays. We advocate for an expansion of LMA, potentially accommodating 9,850 dwellings, enhancing its sustainability and infrastructure capacity. Unlike other proposed sites, LMA is not within the Green Belt, aligning with SWLP priorities. Overall, we believe there is a compelling case for LMA to continue to be a included as a new settlement in the emerging SWLP and there is a strong case for an expanded allocation.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 6- Safeguarding land for transport proposals?

ID sylw: 105749

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

We understand that Draft Policy Direction 6 aims to maintain existing safeguarding measures from adopted Local Plans for unimplemented schemes, allowing for amendments as evidence evolves. It restricts development in safeguarded transport infrastructure areas to ensure effective delivery. We support the safeguarding of land for transport proposals, particularly for the Stratford South Western Relief Road and related rail proposals for the LMA site. This aligns with the NPPF's guidance on protecting critical sites and routes for infrastructure development, which is essential for sustainable links to the new settlement.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 9 - Using Brownfield Land for Development?

ID sylw: 105750

Derbyniwyd: 06/03/2025

Ymatebydd: HG Hodges Ltd

Asiant : Ridge and Partners LLP

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The consultation document states that the SWLP Spatial Growth Strategy prioritises the use of suitable urban brownfield land before considering other locations. We support Policy Direction 9, which aligns with the NPPF, as it allows for brownfield land outside urban areas to be used to enhance sustainability in large-scale developments like new settlements. This is consistent with the NPPF's emphasis on utilising previously-developed land while ensuring it does not conflict with other policies, particularly those protecting biodiversity. Consequently, Draft Policy Direction 9 aligns with the NPPF. It highlights the LMA site’s potential as a new settlement given that a large part of the LMA site is brownfield land.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This includes Long Marston Airfield and the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre. The policy aligns with the South Warwickshire Economic Strategy, recognising the Rail Innovation Centre as a key investment area. It suggests potential growth and diversification of the local economy while ensuring a mix of residential, commercial, and innovation-driven employment opportunities.
