Do you support or object to the preferred option for Inclusive Access?

Ymatebydd: British Waterways
The canal corridors provide socially indiscriminate access by walking and cycling to Leamington Spa and the outskirts of Warwick/Hatton. It is essential that access to the towpath is DDA compliant and that the surfaces and access points are safe for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair/mobility scooters.

Do you agree that the Council has identified all reasonable options for the Natural Environment?
ID sylw: 2504

Ymatebydd: British Waterways
No. The designations proposed of "areas of restraint" should specifically allow for leisure uses, which are acceptable within the open countryside and the greenbelt. Such uses to include water based activities such as boating and fishing opportunities, which would fall outside the designated permitted development rights of BW.

Yes. Within the "follow on" SPD relating to design, the historic waterway vernacular and the interaction of the waterway with the built form should be key concepts, which inform local style and help to create a sense of place.

Do you agree that the Council has identified all reasonable options for Sustainable Buildings?
ID sylw: 2508

Ymatebydd: British Waterways
No. The research should also consider the expertise of British Waterways hydrology department and the utilities section research into the use of micro-hydro power generation based on canal locks and weirs and the use of water for drought and flood management and water based heat pump technology.

Do you agree that the Council has identified all reasonable options for Waste and Recycling?
ID sylw: 2512
Derbyniwyd: 09/09/2009
Ymatebydd: British Waterways
No. Though the canals within Warwick have their primary function for leisure purposes, there are areas within Warwick District, which may be amenable to the transport of waste by water from domestic points to recycling plants and from quarries within Rugby to development sites within Leamington centre.
