I wish to lodge an objection to the new traveller site proposed for Stratford Road Warwick.

I am the secretary of a management committee for a small courtyard development of 13 properties on West Street and my neighbours and I are extremely concerned that a traveller site will have an adverse effect on the impression of Warwick taken away by visitors.

This summer, travellers illegally pitched on the Stratford Road created a mayhem of litter, abandoned electrical goods and untaxed vehicles which did little to enhance the approach to our town. Residents of Chase Meadow said they felt intimidated when accessing the service road approaching their properties.

Warwick relies heavily on tourism as a source of income and we wonder if the visual amenity of this historic area has been taken into account, given the economic impact if tourism was reduced?

There are other sites dedicated to travellers within a 10 mile radius of Warwick and I am keen to know what need you feel can be serviced at the proposed site that cannot be met elsewhere in the wider area?

Stratford Road is a main artery into the town bringing traffic to the historic market town, castle and race course. Previously , when travellers have occupied local land, public houses and shops along this route have chosen to close their doors rather than deal with the disruption and mess created by visiting travellers and we are keen this should not be a regular feature, affecting amenities for local residents and visitors alike.
