In SG20 Little Haven monitors moths which are in great supply. I agree with Draft Policy Direction 18, but with a focus on ensuring sustainability and local community benefits. Supporting rural employment and diversification is vital for thriving rural communities, but development should be carefully scaled to the rural setting and sensitive to the character of the landscape. Policies must prioritise sustainable transport options and minimise environmental impact. Agricultural diversification schemes should be encouraged but with clear guidelines to ensure they meet local needs and contribute to sustainable rural economies. However, it is instructive to note that over half of the residents of South Warwickshire live outside urban areas and many of them travel to and from such areas to work. This will also be the position in relation to new residents at Meon Vale and at Marston Airfield if significant developments occur there, in the absence of adequate employment infrastructure provision in the immediate locality. That is why large settlements should be located close to existing urban centres with suitable road and other transport infrastructure, and not simply developed from nothing in unsuitable rural locations.

It assumes policies will apply only outside settlement boundaries and Strategic Growth Areas. I support this policy especially as it should provide local food growing and thereby food security in forthcoming climate challenges. There is need for more 'local community' carbon capture tree planting which will require tree planting, irrigation and arboreal management for a very long period of time or until emissions are reversed.
