With ref to the Bearly/Wilmcote development - This is in conflict with the extremely limited area given over to Stratford's primary shopping area, which is clearly too small to accommodate the huge increase in population that would look to use it. Local Councils have not done a very good job so far. For example, look at the state of the main shopping streets in Leamington. Contractors employed to replace pavements some years ago, (the disruption causing substantial loss of trade to local businesses), were awful. Almost immediately the resurfaced areas failed resulting in trip hazards and deep puddles. Leamington Town Council blamed WDC but neither did anything about it. High Street traders in general are suffering right now but locally they are hampered by the run down appearance of the streets and parking meters that are out of action.

The proposals for supporting our town centres amount to little more than fiddling while Rome burns.

Yoga classes and dog training classes are not going to save our town centres that have been decimated by years of misguided polices. High rents, absurdly high business rates, increased parking restrictions and charges and ill thought through planning policies have resulted in the displacement of town centre shops and businesses to barren retail parks on the outskirts.

There needs to be an immediate halt to out of town developments and real incentives to encourage businesses to set up in the town centres.

Heritage must be respected - nowhere has as far as I am aware open gutters flowing with sewage (sorry!).
