This needs further work and tightening. There should definitely be no net loss in carbon sequestration: we need to be increasing this substantially. Any developments need to be held to strict, enforced standards on increasing carbon sequestration. Developers need to undertake to oversee this for a substantial period (30 years seems okay) following any new development, and face penalties for non-compliance.

Carbon sequestration is important but is not enough. It is also vital and urgent that man-made carbon emissions are reduced rapidly. These can be reduced by having well-insulated homes, reducing our reliance on road travel and greatly decreasing our use of fossil fuels.
