It will be building on green belt, merging the separate towns and villages of Lillington, Leamington and Cubbington. It will increase traffic on the already busy roads into Leamington. Already constricted by the small number of bridges over the River Leam and under the railway. We do not want to build roads across Newbold Comyn to alleviate North south Traffic! The south is where people go for the weekly shop. The number and location of access points to the site would be a great concern to local traffic. It can't just be one point onto the Rugby Road for instance.

This proposed development will impact on what is at present open countryside on high ground with views south towards Offchurch. This is a location of unusual natural beauty and it is a great asset, not only to the residents of Lillington, but also to Leamington as a whole given that it is so close to the centre of town and accessible from Newbold Comyn. Indeed the development will have a serious adverse effect on Newbold Comyn which is a wonderful local amenity, given that it will abut, and be visible from, the eastern edge and highest point of the Comyn.

The road network in and around Cubbington cannot cope already with the current traffic.
There are already accidents weekly at the roundabout outside St Teresa's Catholic Primary School.
A lot of Greenbelt to the east of Cubbington has been lost due to HS2 and the SG05 parcel of land represents the only remaining accessible countryside for the village and local wildlife.
The storm drains are stretched with the amount of water currently running into them and building on the surrounding fields will increase the chances of flooding.
The village will lose its identity merging with Lillington

We have 2 children both of whom have to cross a busy road, excerbated by HS2 vehicles without a proper crossing (which the council have stated a fatality would need to happen to get one put in...) to get to school. This proposal would also put an end to the chance of them getting into NLS as it would put us further down the list in terms of catchment and as Kenilworth also fills from immediate catchment where will they be educated? The issues of flooding will also be exacerbated leading to more frequent road closures.

As a local resident, I strongly oppose SG05’s inclusion in the Local Plan. This development would destroy greenbelt land, harming biodiversity and depriving residents of vital outdoor space used for walking, exercise, and community activities. HS2 has already disrupted Cubbington—enough is enough. Infrastructure, including roads, schools, and healthcare, is overstretched, and further growth will worsen congestion and strain services. Offchurch Road and Windmill Hill are already too fast and unsafe for heavy traffic. Cubbington has a distinct village identity, which this development threatens to erase. The council must reconsider SG05 and protect our already pressured community.
