SG17 wouldn't accord with principles of sustainable development underpinning national/local planning policy. Shipston has a small town centre, but otherwise SG17 wouldn't satisfy the chosen growth strategy's 4 elements. Would be dispersed development, exacerbating existing patterns of travel by private car for employment, post-16 education, hospitals, shopping etc, due to absence of such local infrastructure and negligible public transport.
Sites east of river especially unsuitable due to: flood risk; separation from existing town - no sense of place & isolating for residents; poor road access/2 narrow bridges unsafe for pedestrians/cyclists; harm to Cotswolds AONB; loss of valuable recycling facility
