I do not consider that this location is suitable for even up to the 3,500 dwellings earmarked under the previous Conservative Government. Even now, there are no definitive proposals for a vital relief road for Stratford, to ease the inevitable traffic congestion arising from existing housing figures. Should the site be expanded to even 6,000 dwellings, this would cause a five-fold increase of daily traffic through the adjacent Cotswold village of Mickleton and thus lead to increased air pollution and a severe loss of tranquillity in such a significant location at the Gateway to the North Cotswolds.
