The Land at Bearley and Wilmcote is Green Belt, with a number of important surrounding SSSI’s. The extensive development of the site would result in devestating urban sprawl from neighbouring, established towns, e.g. Stratford Upon Avon. The NPPF clearly states the importance of Green Belt to avoid sprawl, to safeguard the countryside and preserve the special character of historic towns. There is no demonstration of efforts to encourage regeneration of brownfield land preferentially. The lack of ‘inconvenience’ around land ownership constraints at the Wilmcote site appears to be held in higher regard than the protection of Green Belt.
