I support the protection of the Honeybourne to Stratford rail corridor, but not protection of land for major road-building projects, which are not compatible with recognition of the Climate Emergency or with Net Zero commitments. Road-building induces more driving at a time when all sustainable transport assessments acknowledge a need to get cars off the road. Road travel is responsible for 37% of local CO2 emissions, so this is something we simply must tackle. The relief road to Long Marston and the road from Western Road to Masons Road in Stratford are particularly unnecessary and/or damaging.
