Site B1 Hatton should not be included.
1. It is in Green Belt. Other sites have been proposed which are not, so they should be considered first.
2. Inadequate infrastructure
Road connections are inadequate. The key route between Hatton and Warwick is the A4177. The Transport and Education Assessment of New Settlement Options paper confirms there is limited scope for improvement. The area south of Shrewley does not benefit from any major road links. Rural lanes connect to inappropriate junctions. None of the links/junctions are identified for improvement in the IDP.
The bus service is virtually non-existent. Excessive weight is given to the Hatton Station rail connection. Services have low frequency, inadequate car parking, and poor access which is unsuitable for some modes (walking, cycling, bus). There is limited scope for improvements.
3. Better locations elsewhere.
X1 and X2 score better in the New Settlement Analysis for transport, and proximity to settlement. They have 9 and 8 green scores respectively compared to 5 for Hatton. Hatton has 3 red ratings while E1, F2, F3 and X2 have two and F1, G1, X1, and BW have 1). SG07 is much better located for access and would require less infrastructure than B1.
