Local industries providing large-scale employment no longer exist locally. Shipston is, therefore, apart from services, i.e. shops, hotels, and professional firms, a COMMUTER TOWN or SUBURB of points between LONDON and BIRMINGHAM.

To encourage further large-scale housing on GREENFIELD SITES is to encourage more use of PRIVATE CARS, most of which for the foreseeable future 10-20 years will be internal combustion engine. Alternatives such as ELECTRIC propulsion will not be practical by 2030 in sufficient numbers for current commuters! Are politicians (many of whom have no experience of the REAL WORLD) aware of CLIMATE CHANGE?
