Areas of Restraint are potentially a mechanism for protecting areas that contribute positively to heritage assets or well-preserved historic settlements. For example, where a settlement has a good medieval settlement form, the surrounding fields may contain further evidence of medieval settlement or associated field system. We therefore welcome the clarity that they will seek to protect areas that make an important contribution to the character of the settlement.

We also welcome that this policy is proposed to be consistent across both Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick districts.
