POTENTIAL OBJECTION: Bockenden Grange moated site Scheduled Monument (SM) on west of the proposed allocation. The scheduled moated site is in a landscape of well-preserved medieval earthworks that contribute to its significance with a further moat to the SW, large medieval fishponds to the east and possible also an enclosing boundary to the estate visible as a water channel. Development would erode relationship between the assets & harm significance.

There are a few LBs within and around the site, all GII. Impact on setting of these LBs would have to be assessed and proposals would have to leave buffers around those LBs.

Recommend: Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) prior to allocation. However, HE would prefer this SGL not to be carried forward into the Reg 19 Plan in its current form and for the areas that contribute to the significance of Bockenden Grange to be removed.
