I am writing to formally object to the proposed development at site SG24, Hockley Heath, as outlined in the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP).
1. Environmental Impact: The development is expected to result in significant adverse impacts on waste generation. The assessment indicates that all 24 Strategic Growth Locations (SGLs) with residential capacity, including SG24, will increase household waste significantly. This is concerning given the limited data available, which suggests that the waste management infrastructure may not be equipped to handle such an increase efficiently.
2. Infrastructure Strain: The proposed development will likely place additional strain on local infrastructure, including transport links and local amenities. The current accessibility to public transport and essential services is limited, which could lead to increased traffic congestion and pollution as residents rely more on personal vehicles.
3. Questionable Deliverability: The deliverability of the site is questionable, as noted in the SWLP's assessment. Without clear assurances of deliverability, the proposal remains speculative and could lead to incomplete or stalled development, negatively impacting the community and environment.
4. Impact on Local Character: The scale of the proposed development is not in keeping with the character of Hockley Heath. The introduction of a large number of new homes could alter the village's rural charm and community spirit, which are highly valued by current residents.
In conclusion, I urge the council to reconsider the proposed development at site SG24, taking into account the significant environmental, infrastructural, and community impacts.
