It is my understanding that the South Warwickshire Local plan consultation is ongoing and whilst a large proposed development in Weston under Wetherley is not in the strategic site options remain in consideration for the local plan.
I would like to express my disapproval and concern for any such consideration, plan and or proposal and strongly support avoiding any further development within the greenbelt.
In planning terms HS2 forms a hard landscape feature and permanent solid barrier to the north of Leamington and any further development in this area will result in rapid erosion of greenbelt between Leamington and Coventry, which is already under considerable pressure and could ultimately lead to Coventry's sprawl.
I have other concerns, such as flood risk, lack of suitable infrastructure and general communication and road networks.
As long-term residents we have had to endure the disruption caused by HS2 and further development, on the scale proposed, would lead to years of further disruption as well as irreversible damage to the Warwickshire countryside.
I fully appreciate that development is needed to support growth however I would respectfully ask that less damaging options be considered; use of brown belt and or rejuvenation of existing unused land/areas.
