WCC Support the emerging policy direction to use design codes to set density ranges and ensure that higher density development/densification is well designed and respects and enhances local character. It is recommended that the design codes prevent settlements from becoming overly dense by also providing opportunities for greenspace, helping to ensure a good quality life for residents.

It is important, however, to consider the ability for existing social and transport infrastructure to cope with increased demand within an existing area. This could be a significant issue for the provision of school places for example possibly requiring pupils to travel out of area to access education.

Thought to be given to the type of development delivered through densification.
