I write to object to the plans to build housing on Glebe Farm. This new development would be detrimental to Cubbington village in many ways:

Cubbington maintains a village identity, so rare in these times, which would be destroyed by being engulfed by a new housing estate. Our doctors, village schools and other services would be overwhelmed and unable to cope with more than double the numbers of applicants.

The proposed access points on Windmill Hill would cause major traffic problems for anyone trying to exit or enter the village at peak times. We already have problems during rush hour and the significant increase in traffic from a new development would only exacerbate this. Plus, they are very close to a primary school entrance which many children walk to and from at the moment. Given the heavy increase in traffic through the village, many parents would be disinclined to continue to allow this, further adding to the problem.

As someone who was forced out of her house by the flooding of June 2007, I can assure you that, given the clay nature of the soil here, which does not absorb water easily, and the fact that our drainage and sewer systems are patently inadequate for the existing housing, adding more residences onto this already over-taxed system would result in regular flooding of the houses at the bottom of the village. When my house was flooded, my daughter and I had to wade through waist-deep sewage which had been spurting 2 feet up out of the drains.

This plan is sheer madness.
