Dear Sir / Madam

Re. Objection to Warwick Council's Plans for a Gypsy / Traveller Site at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre - GT02

I am mailing to register my strong objection to the above proposal GT02. I believe that that this proposal is inappropriate for the following reasons:

1) Impact on Local Economy
If the plan goes ahead, it will result in the closure of the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre
The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre has lost prospective business already
During Exhibitions, up to 40 jobs - now at risk - are provided for the local community
An economic impact assessment submits that the exhibition centre contributes more than £2m to the local economy each year, with knock-on business at risk
2) Access to Local Amenities
The nearest doctor's surgery has no capacity for the influx of new patients
The next nearest available doctor's surgery is almost five miles away, with no direct bus service
3) Travel
The Site is on a High Risk travel route with more than 12 serious accidents in last 3 years
The adjacent bus stop is on overgrown verge, with no pavement, potentially dangerous
No path or pavement to walk anywhere and cycling is dangerous on busy commuter routes
4) Historic Environment
The site is on the Archaeological Register with Ancient Pottery recently found
The Land is on a Historic Toll site from mediaeval times
5) Rural Environment
Visual impact across valley gateway to Leamington and Warwick
Damage to wildlife habitat, site adjacent to protected ancient woodland

I trust that my objection will be taken in to consideration during the site selection decision making process
