Would have a long-term detrimental effect on the existing local communities, economy and environment.
Would add further pressure to local services eg schools and doctors, pushing them beyond capacity and impacting on overall effectiveness. Will also create additional traffic.
The Fosse Way is historical, the surrounding countryside and woodlands are important but site would have a significantly negative visual impact on them and natural inhabitants.
Would result in the closure of Warwickshire Exhibition Centre. Counter-intuitive to force closure of an independent business employing local individuals.
I am writing to object to plans to create a gypsy/traveller site on land at the Fosse Way/A425 junction (site GT02).
I believe that such a development would have a long-term detrimental effect on the existing local communities, economy and environment.
As a local parent, I am already aware of the strain on local services such as schools and doctors. It is my understanding that the proposed site would add further pressure to these services, pushing them beyond capacity and, I believe, impacting on their overall effectiveness. Added to this is the additional traffic that would be created around these services, as well as the local area more generally.
As well as the Fosse Way itself being an historical part of the Warwickshire landscape, the surrounding countryside and woodlands are an important part of rural life in the area. I believe that the proposed development would have a significantly negative visual impact on this landscape and its natural inhabitants.
Finally, I object to these plans on the basis that their implementation would result in the closure of the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre. In the grips of a recession it seems counter-intuitive to propose the forced closure of any local employer, not least an independent business employing local individuals, the likes of which Leamington Spa has for many years been proud to be a champion of.
I again reiterate my strong objection to the proposed plans and hope to see this matter resolved without delay.
