Support the recognition that all of the most sustainable villages should make provision for new housing during the Plan period, regardless of whether or not they lie within the Green Belt.
Also support the recognition that the Green Belt boundaries must be altered through the emerging Local Plan, and not through a subsequent Development Plan Document. To do otherwise would not be in compliance with the NPPF.
The list of criteria for the designation and development of village sites, as set out in paragraph 4.4.3, is appropriate and if properly applied will result in the best development for the villages.
It would be appropriate for new developments to meet any particular housing needs identified by the village and/or parish in which it is to be located, such as housing for the elderly (bungalows, for example) and low cost market housing for local people.
