Unsuitable for proposed use as it is contaminated. Has received industrial/commercial waste and is not fit for human habitation.
Banbury Road busy and already suffers traffic delays. Traffic speeds dangerous for children crossing/vehicles entering/leaving site.
Access to amenities would require travel by vehicle over Castle Bridge into Warwick causing further delays/congestion.
Banbury Road an important historic route into Warwick and conservation area. Used by tourists/nationally known companies with sites in area. Site would be first view of Warwick.
I am extremely concerned about the safety of the actual site and the suitability of its location. I do not believe that it is suitable for a Gypsy and Traveller site.
Re: Proposed Gypsy and Traveller Sites in Warwick District - Site GTalt01 (Brookside Willows Site, Banbury Road, Road)
I refer to the above site and write to register my objection to the proposed development of said land for the Gypsy and Traveller community as follows:
The site at Brookside Willows, Banbury Road, Warwick is unsuitable for the proposed use as it is a contaminated site. It has received both industrial and commercial waste. It is understood to have received special waste, which may be "flammable, irritant, toxic, harmful, carcinogenic or corrosive." As such, it is not fit for human habitation.
The Banbury Road site is on a busy road to the south of Warwick, which already suffers from considerable traffic delays. The traffic travels at speed on the steep hill and it would be a dangerous location for children crossing and for vehicles entering and leaving the site. Access to amenities (other than a secondary school) would require those residing on the proposed site to travel by vehicle over Castle Bridge and in to Warwick causing further delays and congestion.
The Banbury Road is recognised as an important historic route in to Warwick leading in to a conservation area. It is used by tourists and by nationally known companies with sites in the area. A Gypsy and Travellers site would be the first view such tourists and businessmen and women would have of Warwick.
I am extremely concerned about the safety of the actual site and the suitability of its location. I do not believe that it is suitable for a Gypsy and Traveller site.
