I strongly object to the allocation of Myton school playing fields for housing.

Myton School has not undertaken any public consultation on the proposed allocation and the Council has provided no justification or evidence as part of the Local Plan process which would warrant the redevelopment of the school playing fields for housing.

I understand that Myton School owns the freehold of the land and as an Academy has freedom over the financial operation of the school.

This proposal presents itself as a speculative development scheme by the school which is unjustified and will have a harmful effect on the character of Myton Road.

I have no objection per se to Myton School being expanded but this should be done within its own current landholding including redevelopment of existing buildings and land to the south of the existing campus and sport pitches. It should not result in the loss of valuable playing fields which make an important contribution to the character of Myton Road.
