Given that the town's major supermarket confluence of 5 national majors plus B&Q (ex-Homebase) and The Range are all within 100 metres of each other around the Princes Drive/Park Drive/Myton Road roundabouts, a northern expansion will bring more traffic into town as a through route and into these already severely congested roundabouts and the railway underpass. Also Northumberland Road will increasingly be used as a through route and the diverted traffic for the recent Severn Trent work has shown how easily that gets jammed up.
