We have first hand experience of the fleeting promises of developers. The Rowington Development has contributed to increased flooding on the Old Warwick Road. Developers are not in this for the long-haul and quick and convenient decisions made by the council now can, and will, have significant ramifications in the future. The consideration of the impact on existing residents (not just on NIMBY grounds, but genuine environmental and infrastructure impacts) needs to be at the heart of the consultation, not just hitting a government target.
