The proposal to build new houses in SG17 is strongly opposed on the basis of the heightened risk of flooding over what is currently designed as a flood plain for those regular occasions on which the River Stour at Shipston floods. The risk to properties bordering the river plus those communities downstream is considerable and currently flooding already causes damage to properties along Church Street and Mitford Bridge areas.
