Shipston has had considerable development in the last few years and doesn’t need further housing. The school and doctor's surgery can’t cope with more people but most importantly this establishes a precedent of expanding the town on the eastern side of the river when there is far more land that is suitable and has better communications on the west of the town with access to the bypass.
It is also likely with climate change that this low lying land will be vulnerable to flooding in the future so the higher ground would be far more suitable.
