In part i agree and the aspiration is commendable. Reality is the British Transportation and connectivity including time and costs has to be significantly improved. People will use public transport if it is efficient clean and economically viable. I have lived in Shanghai and Japan and their transportation system and connectivity just works and is affordable / cost effective. You only have to read the recent news where a person in south west flew via Spain to procure a car in north west of England.
