Shipston has already expanded substantially over the past decade. It is currently flourishing due to a strong offering of independent shops and cafes. However, its character is that of a small market town. It has no train station and very limited parking in the town centre. Its hospital is also being downsized, if not outright removed. To impose an expansion of the size proposed would drastically alter the character and townscape of the town. It would also negatively impact the nearby Cotswolds National Landscape - the existing expansion has already ruined views to and from Brailes Hill.
