Greenbelt land should not be considered whilst there is still ample brownfield land available. Geenbelt land should be restricted to protect urban sprawl and, in order to meet housing requirements, new settlements on brownfield land should be considered ahead of urban sprawl into greenbelt land. As such, the 'Clopton Quarter' part of SG18 should be permanently protected from development as a way of meeting South Warwickshire's "overarching principles".
