Shipton is a small market town serving a wider rural area. The proposal would likely almost double the population and stretch to breaking point existing services such as medical services, educational facilities employment opportunities and shopping provision. It would also increase the number of cars and other vehicles in an already heavily crammed centre. Further the proposed development is within a existing AONB and and Area of Restraint; to agree the proposals would damage the environment, increase issues of flooding and sewage provision. Any housebuilding would need to ensure proper infrastructure with regard to services, transport and flood defences.
