I am concerned RefID 520 is unsuitable for housing, as a member of the local Speedwatch and Flooding groups and Primary School Eco Club.
The entrance is on a dangerous 3-way junction (Henley Road/Spernal Lane/Pelham Lane). The road recently needed closing after an accident where a vehicle crashed into a pole taking the corner. There is no pavement on this busy junction so pedestrian access would be dangerous.
This corner regularly floods due to proximity to the River Alne. Flooding cuts off the east part of the village. The only other route is via Little Alne, which also floods. This means children cannot access the village primary school, or secondary schools in Alcester. Carers cannot reach elderly people in this part of the village and Great Alne Park. The site adjoins flood plain and slopes towards the road, contributing to flooding. I have supplied photos of water pouring down Spernal Lane towards the junction and flooding at the entrance to the Memorial Hall opposite on Henley Road.
The surrounding area is full of wildlife, with many recorded sightings of hedgehogs (a Red Listed species) around the site. See the Big Hedgehog Map. Development would have high risk of habitat loss.
