Speeding Traffic - The entrance is in a 50mph zone, just before an S bend that has seen many traffic accidents over the years. I myself was almost hit by a vehicle speeding around the bend on the wrong side of the road. I had to mount the pavement to avoid a collision. There is no pavement therefore no pedestrian access on this south side of the main road.
Flooding- The S bend often floods as water pours off the field that is proposed for development and fills the road the whole length of the area where access would be. (See flooding photo) Building on an already regularly waterlogged field would most probably exacerbate the potential for flooding. Flooding if the S bend means that children cannot access schools in Alcester and care services cannot access the many elderly people living within the village and at Great Alne Park. Additionally there is a Severn Trent Water pumping station in the corner of the site.
Wildlife - The area surrounding School Road is full of wildlife. My particular interest is hedgehogs, which are a Red Listed species. We have many recorded hedgehog sightings in the area of the proposed development. (see Big Hedgehog Map photo) Development would pose a high risk of habitat loss. Great Alne Primary School is adjacent to the site, where the school Eco Club has recently installed a Hedgehog house and feeding station to support hedgehogs and other features to support and encourage wildlife.
