The potential for X1 to be a new settlement would create almost continuous development in South Leamington and almost total development from Wellesbourne to South Leamington. This would destroy the nature and character of the area and the and create greater urbanisation across agricultural land which contributes to food security. The proposals to look at the SW relief road in Stratford and changes to the M40 could lead to ribbon development along its route linking Wellesbourne further to South Leamington.
