Land at Hatton is currently protected by Green Belt which is there to preserve the historic character of the landscape, chiefly the flight of locks, and the country park, 'Hatton Country World, which depends in part on its rural location. However, the Country World is a commercial enterprise rather than a historic landmark, unlike Wilmcote which houses Mary Arden's Farm, one of the five Shakespeare Houses which is vital for Stratford's tourism. A new settlement here would also be further from the main conurbation at Warwick than BW would be from Stratford, and should therefore be preferred as an option.
