I strongly oppose a new settlement at Wilmcote/Bearley. Its scale is unsustainable and disproportionate and would severely and detrimentally impact the villages’ historic and natural environments. Mary Arden's Farm is a unique heritage asset of great strategic importance for the SBT and Stratford’s tourism centred on Shakespeare's life; the historic canal supports local and regional recreation and tourism. The proximity to Stratford risks urban sprawl; lack of economic opportunity will result in a 'dormitory' town of commuters. Building on this green-belt-protected land would irreversibly change its open and rural character; we need to preserve its historic significance for future generations.
