Building large scale housing developments in green belt locations will require huge investment in infrastructure to provide the required transport links and the desired 20 minute neighbourhood. For example, the proposed site at Hatton is based around the train station. This is a tiny station where the access is off a narrow country lane with very limited parking. It would require huge investment from different agencies to improve both the rail provision and safer road access for both cars and buses.
We do need a much better and more affordable bus service throughout our rural areas to encourage greater use.
