Welcome the approach to setting out minimum space standards and accessible living standards to help to ensure that 1 and 2 bedroom homes are built with bedrooms of an adequate size.
There is no policy approach to providing homes to meet the needs of older people who wish to downsize from larger homes. This is a particular concern in rural areas and will become increasingly important with an ageing population. Encourage bungalows and accessible flats. Local Plans elsewhere have included a policy to seek a minimum of 5% of housing on sites of 50 or more homes as bungalows.
