Wilmcote, home to one of the most precious historical houses in the country, draws thousands of tourists from around the world every year, adding to the economic vibrancy of Stratford. Renowned for its quaintness, it will lose its vital character, Shakespeare's mother's house swamped by modern houses.
Additionally, its roads are not equipped for heavy traffic. turning right onto Birmingham rd from Featherbed Lane already takes over 8 minutes in the rush hour and at weekends when shoppers and tourists head for Stratford. This week I have noted each morning at 7.45am in excess of 15 cars waiting to turn.
