The inclusion of SG23 is deeply flawed. It contains valuable woodland, ponds, and grassland that support local wildlife. Its loss would cause irreversible damage to Henley’s local environment. The claim that proximity to a train station makes this site sustainable ignores that public transport in Henley is poor, forcing total car dependency and increasing pollution. The Green Belt review confirms this land provides a strong contribution to preventing urban sprawl. Its weak connection to Henley means development would be an unnecessary intrusion into open countryside. Choosing a site that directly contradicts Green Belt objectives and undermines environmental protections is unjustifiable.
