This site is designated as Green Belt and meets the criteria to remain so. There is no rationale for allocating it for development; it would go against longstanding local and national policies on openness and environmental protection. Development would have a negative adverse impact and the SA conclusions should be questioned by officers and revised accordingly. It would exacerbate planning issues of settlement encroachment, flooding, traffic, lack of services, heritage impact on setting of Castle - all of which cannot be mitigated. This site is not a preferred option and should not appear in the draft Local Plan to 2050.
