I broadly agree with the approach set out in Draft Policy Direction 6. However, I believe that it should explicitly include provision for improved walking and cycling routes into town centres. For example, the canal bank north of Stratford should be improved and included as a strategic walking and cycling route into Stratford, and, as such, land adjacent to the canal and towpath should be safeguarded to ensure that there is sufficient space for it to be improved. In addition, space should be provided in the town centre for cycle racks, e.g. adjacent to the railway station, near Bridge Street.
