Provision of sustainable, low carbon transport infrastructure is key to providing a good standard of living whilst balancing low environmental impact.
Significant long term investment in Rail & Mass Transit is vital, and where road transport is necessary then the infrastructure needs to be carefully designed to increase throughput whilst also ensuring safety for travellers.
To minimise the impact of vehicle travel on air pollution, the road infrastructure needs to be developed to enable constant speeds to be maintained where possible, and avoid accelerating/braking (which would be a source of PM2.5 pollution even if all vehicles were battery electric)
