The proposed development will have a detrimental effect on protected species and on wildlife generally in the Welcombe Hills; it threatens to reduce biodiversity at a time when the priority should be to increase it. It will have an irreversible impact on the open landscape currently enjoyed from the nature reserve. The greenbelt land and special landscape area is an important asset to the community which should be preserved and turning the area into an urban one takes this asset away.
