SG06 is not suitable for housing because it has no access to transport infrastructure other than a high reliance on cars. The land meets the criteria of greenbelt and similar plans were rejected in 2017 with no changes made for 2025.
It has historically constrained urban sprawl. Previous desk based analysis contributes to a lack of understanding of the benefits of the openness and permanence of green belt land on the health mental wellbeing of footpath users.
The land is high value ALC Grade 2 farmland with recorded red list species. Developing SG06 undermines greenbelt principles upheld by WDC elsewhere.
